Amicalola Creek Lower

Recreational paddling - this stretch of river begins just below the Hwy 53 Bridge with a rapid named Edge-of-the-World because an upstream view provides a horizon line that indeed makes it appear that one has reached the edge of the world. The rapids on this stretch are all toward the beginning, with the majority of the run being on the flatwater of the Etowah. There is an alternate take-out that some have found, pretty much a 4-wheel drive road. This river doesn't hold water long so pretty much only able to be paddled following a decent rain or rainy stretch.

Address: near Dawsonville, GA

Distance from Outdoor Chattanooga HQ: approximately 2.5 hours from downtown Chattanooga
