Chattooga River Section III

Recreational paddling - this is pretty much a wilderness paddle with limited access. The typical run from Earl's Ford to Hwy 76 is fairly lengthy so allow plenty of time, especially if you like to play as you go down the river. Putting in at Thrift's Ferry cuts off about 2 miles but cuts out several fun rapids. Some put in at Thrift's Ferry and take out at Woodall Shoals (on Section IV) for a run commonly referred to as Chattooga III ½. There are several rafting companies that offer guide-assisted trips on the Chattooga.

Address: near Clayton, GA

Distance from Outdoor Chattanooga HQ: approximately 3 hour drive
