Hiwassee River
The Hiwassee River is good fishing seasonally for largemouth and smallmouth bass, striped and white bass, sauger and yellow perch. Although the upstream section near the Polk County border contains trout and might be more readily classified as Type II - the bulk of the Hiwassee River running through Bradley County is warmer water with several broad bays and flats.
Fly Fishing: The Hiwassee River is one of the Southeast's best-kept secrets. It is considered by local fisherman as the best dry fly river in the Southeast.
