Edward's Point

A combination of single track, double track and badly rutted jeep road makes for a fun ride for any beginner or expert alike. Taking the jeep road to Mushroom adds even more fun. There is a hiking only trail around the rim of the mountain to Mushroom Rock; bikes are not legal on this trail.

This wild ride is located in the Prentice Cooper Wildlife Area on Signal Mountain. This is a multi-use trail. Please respect the rights of other trail users and follow IMBA's rules of the trail. Always yield the trail to other users.

Related Activities: road biking, hiking, trail running

Address: Signal Mountain, TN

Distance from Outdoor Chattanooga HQ: 10 miles north

Map(s) and directions:
To get to the trail head from Chattanooga: From I-27 (Corridor J) north, take the Signal Mtn exit and continue up Signal Mtn. Take a sharp left turn at the top of the mountain just before the traffic light.  Follow this road around until you come to a 5-way intersection near a golf course. Turn left on Timberlinks. Continue on Timberlinks over a new bridge. At the top of the hill past the new bridge look for some power lines. The main trail head is on the left just before the power lines. Park on the side of the road here. Or continue a little farther. The main road (now Shackleford Ridge) curves to the right and the road to the left is Edward's Point Rd. Turn left here and look for an old jeep road on the left. This leads to Edwards Point.

Activity type: moderate, family

Dates/Hours: open year round

Estimated Time: 7a.m. to dark
