Reflection Riding Arboretum & Botanical Garden
Reflection Riding is a 300-acre arboretum, botanical garden, and historic site dedicated to the study and conservation of native plant life that, through its unique landscape, provides opportunities for education and healing for people of all ages.
Reflection Riding has a three mile driving loop and twelve miles of hiking trails, which join up with those of the National Parks Service. The trail system is divided into two sections: The Upper Trails and The Lower Trails.
The Upper Trails reach up the side of the mountain to join those of the National Park Service (which borders Reflection Riding on three sides) and can easily take the adventurous hiker all the way to the top of Lookout Mountain. They are wide trails restricted to non-automotive traffic – perfect for mountain biking and hiking. The trails and sites along the way were named by Mr. Chambliss and honor many of those who assisted him in the development of the riding.
The lower trail system includes the Profile Trail, which affords walkers an excellent sampling of the different terrains in the park, and many smaller spur trails adjacent to it allow further exploration of areas such as the Wildflower Cove, Oliver Freeman's Hollow, the Philp Garden and the Pavilion area.
Reflection Riding is a special place where anyone may come and absorb the quiet tranquility of the landscape. We hope your visit, whether driving or walking, whether alone or with a group, is a pleasant one and that you take back enjoyable memories and return for many future visits.
